Number of applications and widgets can be added in the multiple home screens.

Coming to the applications of the different operating systems, the applications of android phone is mostly available in the market. The customer can choose the application that he wants to install from the android market and can install it readily. Also the push market strategy of android apps has added an extra value here. The updates are automatically received as they are pushed directly to the phone. There are many applications that can be downloaded both from android market place as well as from other third-party websites.

Also, various on screen keyboards can be downloaded from the Android platform that is not possible in Symbian mobile. If we give a closer look to the Operating System, we will see that Android is more flexible and customizable than other mobile Operating System.

According to a survey on sales of mobile, it has been found that as of 2013 android devices sell more than Windows, iOS and MAC OS X devices combined with sales in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Furthermore Android’s advantageous position lies in the fact that it is popular with technology companies which require a ready-made, low cost and customizable operating system for high-tech devices.  The various advantages of using Android as Mobile OS are:

• Performance stability and security is better  than other mobiles OS as it is based on Linux Kernel
• Android OS is very smooth and easy to operate and less chances of crashing down.
• Android apps are very useful and easy to use and since it is an open source, it becomes developer friendly and increase the chance of developing more helpful apps.
